The Rex

Went out to a jazz club called The Rex for Mo's going away shindig thingy on saturday. It's close to Osgoode station and across from where the condom shack is. XD

Waiting at starbucks by Mike's place near St. Andrews station

I ended up taking a nap

It was my first time at a jazz club and overall it was a pleasant experience.

The jazz was good but everything else was kind of a clusterfuck. After paying the 8$ cover, we managed to find a few empty seats close to the playing area. Which was lucky for us because the place was pretty packed. The tables had a couple empty/half empty glasses... it seems like the people who were sitting there previously had just left (that or the waiters were lazy). Speaking of waiters, they had like 2 waitresses serving about 75 or so people(maybe more?). After we got our drinks though it was good times.

They had a weird menu too... Thai noodles? Stir fry vegetables?

We checked out the 930 gig: BOB BROUGH QUARTET
Although I pretty much know nothing about jazz, I liked em. The real star of the show wasn't Bob Brough though. It was their bassist. The way he played was awesome! He had one of those psycho stares going on and he was nodding his head like crazy. Very entertaining to watch! =D

Farewell Mo! Have fun in the land of the rising sun.

Owl of Beverage

I love looking at menus at asian places. I also like shirts that have engrish on them. So we went to this korean bar place on vivian's birthday (vivian left before we went to the bar place though...) Check out the drinks on their menu =D

More pictures!

We even got to drink with a certain celebrity! Check it out!

Had to spend the night at Mike's place downtown because the TTC sucks. Subway broke down and we ended up having to take a cab from Rosedale back. I couldn't get to bed and I ended up leaving Mike's place at like 6am.

It was trippy for me being outside that early in the morning. Everything looked so different. Decided to snap some pics on the way home.

Improve your essays by changing your font

Times New Roman: A-
Trebuchet MS: B-
Georgia: A

Short version: Use Georgia

My essays written in Georgia did the best overall. This got me thinking as to why that might be: maybe fonts speak a lot louder than we think they do. Especially to a professor who has to wade through a collection of them; Times seems to be the norm, so it really doesn’t set off any subconcious triggers. Georgia is enough like Times to retain its academic feel, and is different enough to be something of a relief for the grader. Trebuchet seems to set off a negative trigger, maybe just based on the fact that it’s not as easy to read in print, maybe on the fact that it looks like something off a blog rather than an academic journal. Who knows.

Video: How to peel a potato

First they teach us how to fold shirts, now they're at it again.
I present to you: the proper way to peel a potato. Now you can laugh at other people who peel them the conventional foolish way.

Video: FFXII Potion Commercial

Potion finally hit the streets of Japan recently. How does it taste?

It’s no accident that the elixir was placed among the other vitamin packed health drinks. The smell was rather pungent and medicinal, and the drink tasted like, well, medicine. It is a potion after all and and that is precisely what imbibing it is like. Truth in advertising.

Worth an import? Just maybe.

I haven't tried it but I do have an idea of what it tastes like... marketing genius!
Japan has some of the best commercials =D
